Silverstrand Beach House

This award winning home in Oxnard, California was designed as a weekend residence for clients who wanted a special place to enjoy time with family. Their progressively minded approach allowed for a truly collaborative experience with RKAD+SD in both the homes architecture and interior design. This unique site was flanked by two public easements on each side therefore optimizing views of both the ocean and the neighboring channel. The home’s unique roof shape undulates to open up views to the ocean, and narrow specific interior spaces that wanted to feel more intimate. Color and materials were used strategically as a means of both defining rooms and bridging interior and exterior spaces. By retracting the sliding glass wall, the living room and deck area are joined to form one large indoor outdoor space. In addition to designing the architecture, we also were responsible for the interior design of the home. We selected all interior materials and furniture, as well as designed custom millwork, furniture, wall coverings, and textiles.
